SUPPORTING LEADERSHIP TEAMS |
|
DfES expectations are that ICT will play a key role in improving the quality of teaching and learning in a school. The leadership team in a school is expected to be pivotal in ensuring that ICT is used effectively.
Many schools are now getting involved in the development of primary learning networks, in many of which ICT has a central role to play. This makes it increasingly important for the school leadership team to be effective in managing the school’s ICT development. I can work with the school’s leaders to help them clarify the ICT needs of their school and to support them in developing the most effective use of their investment in ICT to support teaching and learning across the curriculum. This will involve: - developing a shared vision of how ICT can best be used to enhance learning and teaching;
- reviewing and evaluating the school’s current practice in the use of ICT by both teachers and pupils;
- creating and implementing an action plan for improving the effective use of ICT in learning and teaching in the school.
I can support the Leadership team and ICT Co-ordinator: - to stimulate discussion about how ICT can help to improve learning and teaching in the school. Meeting with individuals, groups or whole staffs, I can help them develop a greater understanding of the benefits to be gained from the use of ICT. The potential of particular items of software or hardware and of particular activities and ways of working can be investigated and discussed;
- to observe and monitor the use of ICT in the school, to identify and share existing good practice;
- to find materials, guidance and support to address specific areas that have been identified for further development;to review and evaluate the impact of actions taken to implement the school’s shared vision.
