School websites are invaluable for a variety of reasons. A website can be your school’s “shop window”.With your own website you can celebrate the achievements and work of your school, your pupils and staff to the world; you can use it to provide a bank of resources for your pupils; anyone with access to the internet (such as potential pupils and their parents) can to make virtual visits to your school and communicate with you.
However, having a website presents a school with some unique - and very important issues that must be addressed: - Why do you want a website?
- What purposes will it serve for your school?
- Who will design it?
- Who will build it? Who will maintain it? And how often?
- Who will monitor the content for accuracy, style, spelling etc.? (These are all very time-consuming activities). How will you ensure that the school community are able to participate in the site?
- How can you open your school to the world without compromising the safety of your pupils?
I can advise and support you with these and other aspects of developing and maintaining a school website. To see a school website that I designed, developed and maintain click this link http://www.poplar.merton.sch.uk |
